youthNiagara County Employment & Training (NCE&T)
NCE&T Youth Programs provide a comprehensive array of services to eligible out of school and some in-school young people, up to age 21, who can benefit from work experience and/or basic skills upgrading. The Summer Youth Employment Program has the largest enrollment, but other programs serve young people all throughout the year, from all areas of Niagara County.

Our focus is on low-income youth, ages 17-21, who are school dropouts, basic academic skills deficient, homeless or runaway, pregnant or parenting, offenders, and/or in need of assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and retain employment.

This is accomplished through creative program design & mentorship emphasizing linkages between schools, community agencies, and employers to provide training & employment opportunities which is closely monitored to maximize participant success.

“Nexter Employment”
Nexter Employment is employment for the next generation. Youth we currently work are the workforce of the future, and need education and training to make a smooth transition from the “Nexter Generation” to the “Now Generation”. If you are interested in our program, CYP will offer assistance with work readiness skills, applications and resumes, and obtaining employment. As young parents, you will be given help in arranging childcare and finding the resources to pay for it.

Students stay in school or enroll in GED classes, so they can move up the career ladder of their choice. CYP can help you be more competitive and “ahead of the game” in your job search, by offering to pay your wages during the training period at a work site. After that, it’s up to you to make a good impression so the employer will hire you as a regular employee. The jobs we have available are entry level-- they are for people just starting out. Maybe you need a job with flexible hours to accommodate your school schedule, we have that. Maybe you are done with school and want to learn a trade; we can help with that, also. Call CYP today and begin moving from “Next” to “Now”.

Youth 17-21 who are not attending school are encouraged to apply by contacting Eileen Sokol at 286-0762.
