Are you over age 55 and looking for work?
The Senior Community Services Employment Program (SCSEP) may be able to help.
SCSEP Senior Workers receive a paid work experience funded under the Senior Community Service Employment Program/Title V of the Older Americans Act and coordinated by the Niagara County Employment and Training Department.
SCSEP provides both community services and work-based training. Participants work an average of 20 hours a week at minimum wage in a wide variety of community service activities at non-profit and public facilities including day-care centers, senior centers, schools, and hospitals. This community service training serves as a bridge to regular employment opportunities.
How are SCSEP Senior Workers selected?
Program participants must be at least 55 years of age and have a family income of no more than 25% over the Federal poverty level. Enrollment priority is given to individuals deemed to be most in need by federal guidelines.
What services are provided to participants?
SCSEP Senior Workers will receive one-on-one counseling, assistance in securing regular employment, wages, and annual physicals, in addition to valuable experience in a non-profit or public work environment.
The program is designed to help you find, get, and keep a job.
